Happy February, Readers!!!

In alignment with February being Valentine’s Day, Black History Month, AND the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of this blog (woohoo!!!) what better time to kick off my very first contest!

As women of color we have so many beautiful hair textures.  It was the original premise for starting this blog, and while the content has expanded, “Affrodite’s Adventures In Nappy Hair” is still at the core.

Whether you just did the big chop or have worn your hair natural for years, I encourage you to take a moment to love your curls!

CONTEST GUIDELINES

• In 30-100 words, tell me why you love your curls.  Essay or poetry only.  No video submissions will be accepted.

• Include a photo of yourself rockin’ your curls.  It will be displayed with your written work.

• Include your first name or screen name you want to use when I post your submission online, city, state, (and country if outside US)

• Email your written submission and attach photo.  You can include your text in the body of the email or attach one of the following formats: Microsoft Word, Pages (for Mac users), or PDF format to affrodite.sez@gmail.com along with your preferred contact information where you can be notified if you win.

• I will post entries I receive by email daily on this site, by 3:00 PM EST, where your friends, family, and site visitors can comment to show their support.  Positive comments only!!! This is about loving ourselves with the hair our wonderful Creator gave us naturally.

• Deadline for submissions is Valentine’s Day- Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 3:00 PM EST.  No exceptions!

• The winner will be announced right here at affrodite.net Monday, February 16, 2009 by 3:00 PM EST.
