Your input is needed! 2010 Economic Survey of Black America
Hey Readers! I’m trying to help out TheLoop21.com and AKA with getting more responses to this survey. Read below and please particpate. Thanks ~Affrodite
In an effort to better understand the economic status of African-Americans and the perceptions behind the racial disparity that exists in today’s economy, TheLoop21.com, a premier African-American website for economic and political news, has commissioned the largest-ever consumer study of African-American consumers and workers. In partnership with the national sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, Inc., the “2010 Economic Survey of Black America” seeks to provide a clear assessment of Black America’s economic status and black consumer confidence from the perspective of thousands of black consumers and workers.
The survey closes at midnight PST on Friday, April 23, 2010.

Q&A with TheLoop21.com Publisher Darrell Williams, Ph.D. Economist:
Q: What makes the 2010 Economic Survey of Black America different from other reports and conferences on this subject?
A: The key point of differentiation for our survey is that it reflects the voice of the people. For example, the National Urban League’s “State of Black America” yearly study has historically consisted primarily of essays by noted economists and more recently includes opinions from activists and politicians. Many studies use a traditional model of “the few” speaking for and about “the many”. The 2010 Economic Survey of Black America is a chance for “the people” to speak for themselves. And, everyone needs to speak up to address their own economic situation and the way forward as they see it.
Q: What do you hope to achieve with this survey?
A: Our mission is to look behind the statistics and commentary on the black economic condition in order to give voice to the economic priorities and concerns from the community itself. The end goal is to offer insights from Black folks from all walks of life—students, blue collar workers, lawyers, doctors, and those looking for work—that decision-makers can use to craft effective solutions to today’s economic challenges.
Q: Who will be included in the 2010 Economic Survey of Black America?
A: Everyone can and should be included. If you care about the economic direction of this country and how it impacts you, then you need to be a part of this conversation. TheLoop21.com is collaborating with Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, Inc. to reach as many people as possible. The national sorority plans to engage its 250,000 college-educated membership and their families from over 900 chapters in the U.S. and abroad. We will also be reaching out to folks via the media including through TheLoop21.com and AOL’s BlackVoices.com to encourage participation.
Q: How can individuals take part in the survey?
A: Anyone interested in taking the survey should go to www.TheLoop21.com for more information. The survey will be open from April 9th – April 23rd.
Q: What kinds of questions will be asked in the 2010 Economic Survey of Black America?
A: Respondents to the “2010 Economic Survey of Black America” will be asked to reply to questions regarding their present economic status, the U.S. global recession and its impact on their lives, as well as their outlook for the future. All responses are anonymous.
Q: Why did you feel it was important for everyone to participate in this survey?
A: In today’s multi-cultural society, it is vitally important to evaluate the strength of the U.S. economy based on the economic well being of all its citizens. Also, economic policies that are being determined today will impact black consumers and workers for decades to come. The views, priorities and economic status of Black America need to be part of the conversation.
Q: When will the findings be available?
A: The results of the survey and analysis of the findings will be released in early May so be sure to look for them.
