The Heart TruthToday is Women’s Heart Health Day or as I’m more often seeing it referred to as National Wear Red Day.  I had been reading snippets about wearing red today, but somehow it didn’t register.  Whether or not you wear red today, here are some resources for you to read for more info on this day and heart disease in women in general.

NATIONAL WEAR READ DAY

National Wear Red Day-February 6, 2009-is a day when Americans nationwide will wear red to show their support for women’s heart disease awareness.  This observance promotes the Red Dress symbol and provides an opportunity for everyone to unite in this life-saving awareness movement by showing off a favorite red dress, shirt, or tie, or Red Dress Pin.

GO RED FOR WOMEN “WEAR RED DAY”

The Go Red For Women movement challenges women to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. And the movement plays a leading role in providing women with the tools they need to lead heart-healthy lives.

On Friday, Feb. 6, the American Heart Association encourages everyone to wear red – whether it is a red dress, a red t-shirt, a red dress pin or red lipstick. Show the world you passionately support Go Red For Women, the movement to improve women’s heart health and save lives.
